Alternative lifestyle part two- Simple Living!

The summer of 2014, I was on a trip with the United Methodist Women when I learned that I was going to the Philippines for training to become a US2 missionary. The original plan was for me to go to the West Coast to work with a social Justice nonprofit but at the last minute they decided to pull away from the program which displaced me. This program taught me about simple living and financial behaviors. As an adult with learning disabilities, I understand that the world as we know it is not made for me. I always feel displaced, which means I have to see different paths to get to the same answer. Global Mission Fellows the program coordinator did find a place for me in Mobile, Alabama. For 2 years, I worked in a mission in Mobile which had its good times and bad. I want to Challenge you to find a path that works best for you in the season and which you are in.

As a missionary, we lived in an intentional community. This means we lived in a home with other missionaries and we shared resources. In the season which I am currently in, I’m going to have to pick up those tools again. Last blog I shared with you that I am building a tiny home for my daughter and I. Before making the decision to make a tiny home on my parents land I did some research. The gap for poverty has widened and the working poor has taken over the middle class. As I was going from Company to Company; they all said that business is growing because COVID-19 displaced a lot of people and the cost of living has displaced people which means people have to find alternative places to live.

My alternative is a tiny home that will have two bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room, kitchen and small office. The tiny home is 12×40, blue with brown trimmings. This is not the life I thought I would be living but I have faith in God to repair my paths.

To complete my tiny home,  I am in need of your help! My goal is $5,000 that will cover the cost of materials installation and drywall. Also will allow me to purchase bathroom fixtures, toilet, sink and shower. Along with a sink, fridge and something to prepare meals. I am willing to take any above items in donations.

If I can get 100 people to donate at least $50.00, I will meet my goal. If you would like to donate to my project in building a tiny home for my daughter and I please cashapp us at $Marcharkelti and share this blog with your online community.
