Alternative Lifestyles – Downsizing

On February 7, 1988, I was born to Charles and Mary McKenzie. They already had two boys which mean I came as the little princess, demanding and determined as my dad would say. I have always been a daddy’s girl and enjoyed anything I saw him do. My parents are hardworking people who always provided for their family. Ma would say that I had my mind made up from birth. From the first day of school to me graduating from seminary to having my first child to pastoring my first church my parents had my back. I’m thankful that I have parents that are welcoming and caring like my parents. #Myfamily

Thank you to all of those who have donated to my project. We have around 10 days before the project is done.

“Downsizing” can mean any number of things in different contexts, most of which probably would have no effect whatsoever on one’s spiritual life. Ascetics have often been minimalists with regard to material possessions, believing “less is always better”. In this season, downsizing is my reality to so that I can have a roof over my family head. My Tiny Home has been tiring and exhausting both physically and spiritually, nevertheless, I am thankful that I have a space to call my own. I am now a homeowner in an untraditional way.

During this time, my dad (Charles McKenzie), my brother-in-law (BJ Mitchell) my best friend (Shon Elliott) and a family (Reginald Johnson of Johnson’s Home Improvement) are helping me put my tiny home together. I’m so thankful for my community; without them this project would still only be a dream. I do my best to have water and food for them when they are working.

The tiny home is 12×40, blue with brown trimmings; with two bedrooms, one bathroom, kitchen, living room and small office.
